- Desensitizing is not about scaring your horse (or teaching them to shut down to stimuli by hiding internally)- it is about building your horse's sense of confidence in himself, in you, in his environment, and as a student. Come share the weekend as we help our horses unwind and let down and see how truly comfortable, confident, and relaxed your horse can be when he is able to accept pressures not merely tolerate them. Held at the University of Minnesota

Come join Sarona Bruder June 15-16 for a Confidence, Relationship, and Leadership Building Clinic and see why people say she has a truly unique gift in her ability to demonstrate and facilitate to both horse and human of all skill levels akin to few other. You and your horse will benefit from her vast knowledge and experience gained not only from studying and riding under some of The Worlds most influential equestrians and Natural Horsemanship icons, but also in her personal training and restarting of several hundred rescue and troubled horses over two decades. An eternal student and teacher at heart, she also brings with her invaluable lessons learned from giving solo, individual, and group lessons with a wide assortment of horse and human pairs from all backgrounds. This Confidence, Relationship, and Leadership Building Clinic will focus on horse and human psychology and Sarona will help you learn how to help your horse gain confidence in you, your leadership, new environments and stimulus's, and as a learner by allowing horse and human to develop, foster or rekindle innate confidence's in themselves. We will work on personal energy and on reading the energy and mental, emotional, and physical states and needs of our individual horses' and identifying each horses' unique combination of developmental state, spirit level, and fight/flight instinct. And you will learn to look for each horses' individual tolerances and thresholds and how to navigate and redirect negative reactivity towards positive responsiveness while learning tools and techniques to help keep you and your horse within your respective confidence and skill sets. This clinic will focus on my belief that true confidence building varies dramatically from rote desensitization of a stimulus- and that true confidence (in horse and in human) comes from within and is kindled thru the desire to learn that comes only when we feel safe enough to step out of our comfort zone with the confidence that we can fail successfully- Not by being flooded and conditioned to withdraw and internalize pressures due to learned helplessness.
This clinic has a minimum of 5 participants and maximum of 8. The clinic format will being on Saturday with Instructor working each horse individually to access and introduce them to the process while all participants shadow step by step as Sarona narrates her findings and techniques as she tailors the experience to each horses' needs. The remainder of the clinic will be a combination of group work and individual support and demonstration where you will work on horse and human confidence, leadership, and relationship growth and development through use of everyday objects, tools, exercises, energy work, and stimulus's. This is an online/ground clinic that will greatly improve you and your horses relationship whether online or under saddle. Young, unstarted, restarting, and rescue horses welcome to attend.
